Perfect Accompaniments at Winchester Food Festival

As well as fantastic local food and drink at Winchester Food Festival, you will also find products to elevate your dishes, all produced by Hampshire Fare members. Here are some you can try and buy on 14 July in Winchester Cathedral’s Outer Close…

Chefs and foodies alike love Lusso Leaf. They grow microgreens, micro herbs and edible flowers at their specialist farm in Stockbridge. Densely grown and harvested just a few days beyond germination Lusso Leaf’s “Shoots to Thrill” is perfect for adding vibrant colour and flavour impact to your plates.

Back for a second year are Pepperpot Nurseries. This family run specialist herb grower from Chawton will have an extensive range of potted herbs for sale at the Festival.

If you want to add a kick to your meal, visit the Callaloo Corner stand for Caribbean inspired homemade vegan-friendly pepper “hot” sauces. Created by founder Christine Lee Wing who wanted to recreate and share the authentic Trinidadian tastes she grew up with.

Also inspired by the flavours of her childhood is Ewelina, who launched Ewelina’s Home Pantry in 2021. She uses fresh, high-quality local ingredients and traditional methods to create handcrafted wholesome preserves in the heart of the New Forest. You’ll find her vast selection from jams to chutneys on her stall.

Two&One Olive, an Anglo-Spanish family business, is on a mission to bring the healthy attributes and joy of olive oil to the British diet. Their oils come from five generations of olive growers in southern Spain. They run masterclasses in olive oil across the county. You can meet them and taste their oil for yourself at the Festival or join them for a special Tapas evening at the Myres Touch on Thursday 11 July as part of A Taste of Winchester.

Also showing you how to put something different on your plate is Experience Hampshire. For A Taste of Winchester, they are running an Urban Foraging Workshop on Wednesday 10 July. Join forager Freya as she uncovers nettles, wild strawberries, edible seeds, leaves, flowers, fungi, roots and shoots ready to eat in the City centre. Experience Hampshire will also be at the Festival, visit their stand to find out about  fun, inspiring and unusual things to do across the county.

A Taste of Winchester takes place in the lead up to Winchester Food Festival and has 25 events already planned across the District. To find out more visit www.winchesterfoodfestival.co.uk or visit @winchesterfoodfestival on Facebook and Instagram.
