The River Test Distillery
The River Test Distillery Ltd was founded as a family business in 2017 and after a couple of years of meticulous planning and experimentation, the distillery finally launched their Signature Gin in 2019. Success followed quickly when the gin was awarded the title of ‘England’s Best London Dry Gin’ at The World Gin Awards (2020) and since then, their dedication to quality and innovation has only grown stronger, seeing them create award-winning gins that have garnered praise and recognition from gin enthusiasts around the country and internationally.
A “Gin of the Month” campaign with Craft Gin Club saw their hugely popular Chalkstream Gold, being delivered to nearly 90,000 Craft Gin Club members throughout the UK. The gin was originally intended to be a limited edition gin, exclusive to Craft Gin Club members but such was its popularity, it was added to the River Test range as a permanent addition. The third gin, Sunset Citrus completes the gin portfolio and with all three gins having won Gold Medals, the team is working on a new product to be added to the portfolio this July.
The gin craze, that was widely reported over the last few years, has definitely waned slightly recently, but The River Test Distillery is still seeing strong demand for their gins. Sarah Nelson, Co-owner of The River Test Distillery, attributes some of this to the fact that there is still a strong interest in quality, locally produced, artisan products. “People still support local artisan producers because they understand that we produce unique products that are made with care and expertise. It feels like many of our customers are on the journey with us, and being so local to Winchester, we’re really looking forward to meeting new customers and reconnecting with existing customers at The Winchester Food Festival.
